Hope's Door
| Last updated on August 29, 2011 |
our mission statement: Hope's Door is a network of organizations and individuals to identify, access and provide for the need of low income persons. Our vision is to grow not only monetarily to stay open but also to get bigger and be able to cover more ground for people and set up new and more programs. We would like to see a homeless shelter and thrift store opened some day and would like to see some transportation offered to those who have none.
Description:
We are a non profit service organization that gives free household needs as well as clothing, infant needs (by referral) and disaster relief when necessary. We have appliances, and books. It is like a little store but free. All clients must register and fall within the income poverty guidelines. We also have a Christmas for kids program that we are in dire need of funding and help with.
History:
Hope's Door was actually the old Family Resource Center. It had one paid employee and the rest were volunteers. We do accept persons on W-2, Emergency government or Social Services who may have community service or who may need to work off fines. FRC was in business for over 40 years and because of funding cuts was forced to close within its parent NCCAP. The community stepped up and now we are all on volunteer staff and are our own entity. President: Karolyn Weber Vice President: Jan MArtinez Coordinator/Treasurer: Jeanette Ostrum
