McMillan Memorial Library is the public library of the City of Wisconsin Rapids which also serves other communities and households of southern Wood County. McMillan is part of the South Central Library System which includes libraries in 7 counties and a shared catalog of 38 libraries including Madison Public Library. McMillan Library provides a variety of materials in house as well as access to our online catalog, various databases and local history materials from our website. We have ongoing cultural and informational programming for a wide variety of ages. McMillan provides delivery of materials to qualified homebound patrons.
History:
McMillan Memorial Library is the current name for the public library of what is now Wisconsin Rapids. As an institution, our roots stretch back to the first public library in our town which was founded 116 years ago. The library has been on East Grand Avenue as McMillan Memorial Library since 1970. McMillan Library was honored with the Wisconsin Library Association's Highsmith Award for creative programming in 2001 for our Coffeehouse series of literature and poetry and in 2002 for our collection of online local history materials.
