The Stevens Point Forestry Dept. enhances the economic, aesthetic, and environmental benefits of public greenspace in the city through proper planting and maintenance of trees and other landscape plants.
Description:
We are responsible for managing the city's urban forest. Part of this means managing tree diseases and insect pests of trees, and also includes managing invasive plants and pests.
History:
A full time city forester started in Stevens Point in about 1976. We have been a National Arbor Day Foundation (NADF) Tree City USA for 25 years. Stevens Point has also receive the NADF Growth Award for 7 years. The growth award recognizes cities that have attained a higher level of tree care or enviornmental awareness than other Tree City USA's.
