Career Closet Of Wisconsin Rapids, Inc.
| Last updated on November 17, 2011 |
Do you enjoy working with people? Would you enjoy helping men and women choose appropriate clothing for job interviews or work? If so, you will enjoy volunteering at the Career Closet of Wisconsin Rapids, Inc.
Description:
The Career Closet program addresses the basic need of clothing for economically disadvantaged men and women in our community. Donated clothing is given to men and women actively looking for a job, to those recently hired who have a need for work clothes, and to students at Mid-State Technical College and local high schools. Individuals who have been out of work often have neither suitable clothing nor the resources to buy them. This is where the Career Closet will help. Our staff of volunteers will help each person find the clothing they need. We have seen first-hand what a boost our clothing can give to someone anticipating a job interview, and later we see their pride when they return for clothing to wear on the job they have just secured. The Career Closet is another link in our community helping men and women make a positive change in their lives.
History:
The Career Closet began operating in 1999 as a program of the Family Center, Inc., and continued to operate with support from a Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Grant, managed by the Family Center through 2001. The Career Closet now operates independently from the Family Center, Inc. with community grants and donations.
