The mission of the Aging and Disability Resource Center is to identify and meet the needs of older people, and together with them, assure that Wood County is a good place to grow older.
Description:
Our agency depends upon volunteers to assist seniors in the following capacities: Volunteer drivers provide transportation to out-of town medical appointments. Volunteers at our senior dining sites assist with packing food for home delivered meals, dining room set-up, cafeteria style serving, and clean-up. Volunteers also assist with greeting guests, providing music or activities. Volunteers also deliver home delivered meals in Wisconsin Rapids, Rudolph, and Pittsville. Our Volunteer Senior Home Repair program requires volunteers who will assist with minor home repairs, such as installing grab bars, hand rails, and ramps for those aged 62 and above.
History:
The Aging and Disability Resource Center began in 1974 as the Department of Aging. It is funded by federal, state, and county money along with participants' contributions.
