Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk To Cure Diabetes

JDRF is a non-profit funder of research for finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

Description:
JDRF is a grassroots organization providing funds for diabetes research. Over 80 cents of every dollar raised directly funds research. JDRF research goals include: restoring normal blood sugar, preventing and reversing diabetes related complications, and preventing diabetes. Research reviewers include scientists, as well as family members and people directly affected by diabetes.

History:
In 1970, parents of children with Type 1 diabetes founded the organization. Since then, more that $900 million has gone to diabetes research. In 2005, more than $98 million was provided to research. It is the largest funder of diabetes research worldwide.
